Nourriture et boisson

There is one pub in the village – Y Pengwern, on Church Street. It was originally an old coaching house and seeped in history. As a hotel/restaurant it closed in 2009 but the local community revived it and have run it since 2011. It is still developing but its kitchen, restaurant, bar, function room and several bedrooms are all functional and receive some excellent reviews. There is a beer garden, looked after by local volunteers, a games room (pool and darts) and wifi in the bar area.

The food is traditional pub food, all freshly cooked onsite, using locally-sourced ingredients where possible. The bar, Sunday lunch and pizza menus all include vegetarian options.  Visit their website www.ypengwern.co.uk for menus, opening times and the story of Y Pengwern.

There are numerous places to eat in Blaenau Ffestiniog, including a bar and grill (Y Chwarelwr/The Quarryman), a café serving welsh cuisine (De Niro’s)  and a greek restaurant (Caffi Kiki) as well as several take-away options on the High Street (chinese, fish & chips, kebabs & burgers) and coffee shops. Of course you will also find restaurants further afield in Maentwrog, Portmeirion and beyond.
